The Top 10 Secrets To Amazing Skin

As we get older, our skin will start to reflect our age. This means we have to start taking better care of our skin from an early age. There are women out there with perfect, glowing skin. I’ve chatted with a few and gotten their skin care treatment secrets. Here’s what I found out.

  1. Drink green tea. Green tea contains anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe your skin and prevent puffiness or red spots. It also contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which helps prevent collagen destruction. These can lead to wrinkles and sun damage to your skin amazingskin

  2. Stress less. Women who have higher levels of stress will see it reflected in their skin. Stress can induce acne breakouts due to its increase in the production of cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that can make your skin produce more oil, leading to more acne.

  3. Quit smoking. Smoking and being around people who smoke leads to toxins around your skin that will damage skin cells. You’ll age faster and get more wrinkles if you’re constantly smoking or around smoke. Filter out the air around you and try not to be around toxic air. If you live in a dry environment, purchase a humidifier to help hydrate your skin.

  4. Use sunscreen. You might not notice, but there are UVA rays everywhere and in places you wouldn’t think of. The sun can penetrate your home and car windows so make sure to also protect your arms and legs. Aside from skin cancer, people who are exposed to the sun for a prolonged period of time also see an increase in wrinkles and skin damage.

  5. Use a good cleanser and moisturizer. Perfect and glowing skin need hydration and cleansing to get rid of the junk your skin may attract throughout the day. Wash your face in the morning and especially at night to clean out the makeup and dirt that can clog your pores. After, make sure to use a moisturizer to hydrate your skin. This will keep your skin smooth and soft.

  6. Get enough rest. When you’re sleeping, your skin is in repair mode. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re not giving your skin enough time to repair itself. Not enough sleep also causes stress, which can give you breakouts. Make sure to get seven or more hours of sleep per night for your skin to repair the damages.

  7. Eat well. Eating oily and greasy foods such as pizza and burgers can cause breakouts if your skin is exposed to the oil. Oil clogs your pores which can give you acne. Studies have also linked sugar to breakouts. Try eating fresh and natural foods like fruits and vegetables and stay away from dairy products, which can also cause breakouts.

  8. Antioxidants are your best friends. Add in a layer of antioxidants on your skin to combat damage from smoke, pollution, UVA rays, and stress. These damages cause wrinkles. Antioxidants help prevent radical damages to your skin.

  9. Exfoliate your skin. Depending on what your skin needs, you should try to exfoliate your skin once to twice a week. Exfoliation helps to get rid of the dead skin cells on the surface. Once they’re gone, your skin will start to glow and feel more smooth. Exfoliation also helps unclog pores and remove blackheads. If you have sensitive skin, try a more gentle exfoliator and do it less frequently as to not damage and leave your skin feeling raw.

  10. Avoid touching your face. Your hands contains dirt and germs which when exposed to the skin can clog your pores. Avoid touching your face at all times except for when you’re cleansing or applying moisturizer. Make sure that your hands are cleanly washed and dried when you need to touch your face. Also watch out for the germs on your cell phone when you’re talking. Instead, use headphones so you don’t need to put your phone directly to your face.
